BLOOMFIELD Jack

Jack William BLOOMFIELD

Son of Frederick G. and Louisa Bloomfield, of Queensbury.  He served as a Private in Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment, 6th Battalion.  Jack died on 5th October 1943, aged 24

He is buried at SANGRO RIVER WAR CEMETERY,  Italy.

Frederick and Louisa are recorded on the electoral roll as living on Weston Avenue in 1945, and on York Street in 1946.

The Allies had landed in Italy on 3rd September 1943, Jack was originally buried close to where he fell, in May 1944 he was reburied in the Sangro River War cemetery.

Headstone inscription for Jack: “Beautiful memories treasured ever of happy hours we spent together”.

Jack is not listed on the village war memorial.
