Edgar originally served in the Royal Field Artillery but had transferred to the Labour Corps and was serving with the 45th Company when he was killed in action on 21 March 1918.
His parents were William and Martha, he had four sisters and one brother, Edgar was the youngest. In 1911 the family lived at 9 Commercial Street, Queensbury and Edgar aged 21 was employed as a clerk wool warehouse. On 26th May 1914, he married Agnes Hodgson at Queensbury Parish Church, the CWGC show that Agnes lived at 44, Cornwall Road, Manningham, however on the probate records the address of 1 Booth Street, Queensbury is shown, this is also the address for Edgar on the Queensbury Roll.
Edgar has no known grave and is commemorated on the POZIERES MEMORIAL (Panel 94).
