Wille Hoyle is named on the memorial at the front of the church, he is also on a list of the village war dead with his regiment shown as the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment).
This leads to William Hoyle of the 11th Battalion who died of wounds on 9th November 1918 and is buried at BUSIGNY COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION (II. B. 14). The CWGC record he was the son of Albert and Mary Hannah Hoyle, of 3, Oxford Street, Crossfields, Halifax.
Checks of the census show the family living in Halifax during 1901 and 1911 and that Willie had a sister Edith. No links to the village have been established.
