Arthur was the eldest of Enos and Louisa Midgley’s three sons, his two brothers were Ernest and Leonard.  In 1911 Arthur who was then 16 and an iron molding apprentice lived with his family at 16 Woodville Street, Lee Mount, the family later lived at May Royd, Ambler Thorn and this address is shown on CWGC records.

Little is known of his military service other than that he served as a Private in the Army Veterinary Corps.  Arthur died on 29th October 1918 at Bricket House Hospital, St Albans, Hertfordshire the cause of death is unknown.

He is buried in a CWGC grave at ILLINGWORTH METHODIST CHAPELYARD (Old Ground. 8. 57).
