Harry OWEN MM
Corporal Harry Owen was born in Liverpool; he was aged 24 when he died of wounds on 20th September 1917.
Enlisting in Bradford, Harry served in Royal Horse Artillery, 187th Brigade. His qualifying date on his medal card is 14th October 1914, meaning that he was awarded the 1914 Star. Harry was also awarded the Military Medal for gallantry although details are not available for how or when he was awarded this. The early date of Harrys arrival in France indicates that he was either serving as a Regular or Territorial before the war.
The CWGC record Harry as the brother of Florence Owen, of Ashgrove, Queensbury, Bradford. Florence was also his next of kin and received his effects.
Harry is buried at LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY (XIX. A. 8A).
