Lot of Albert Edward Street is recorded on a document, entitled, Queensbury Roll of Honour under ‘men who have given their lives for their country’. It is believed that this list was printed around August 1917, whilst the war was ongoing.
On 26th September 1916 Lot Poole of the 9th Battalion. Lancashire Fusiliers was killed in action, a casualty of the Somme battles, he is commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL (Pier and Face 3 C and 3 D).
Lot had enlisted in Pontefract, the 1911 census records that he was a coal miner, married to Annie and had five children. The family are shown as living in South Kirby.
No link to this man has been found to Queensbury, this includes his children who can be traced via records including marriage as living around the South Kirby area. It is therefore not possible to fully identify Lot, despite his uncommon name.
