Percy Rhodes is named on a list of those from Queensbury village who died in the war. The list also records the following details; Percy Rhodes aged 18, served in the West Yorkshire Regiment and died July 1916.
Research of these details lead to a Percy Rhodes service number 4588 of the 1st/6th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own) who died of wounds on 12th July 1916 and is buried at STE. MARIE CEMETERY, LE HAVRE (Div. 3. A. 2.).
The CWGC record states that he was the son of William and Rose Rhodes, of Hunslet in Leeds. He had two brothers, Joseph and Walter and the family can be found on the 1911 census return, living in Hunslet.
No Queensbury link has been found for the above man and checks on others of that name have not identified the Percy Rhodes who lived in or was linked to the village.
