Leonard is named on a list of those from the village who died in the war, he is not named on the village roll or war memorial. His regiment is shown, and this leads to Leonard Tye of the 9th Battalion. Devonshire Regiment who died of wounds on 24th October 1918.
Born in Leeds he was living with his parents Peter and Mary Jane in Woodhouse, Leeds in 1911, aged 15 he was working in a boot factory. Leonard was the second born of seven children.
The 1914 and 1915 electoral register records a Peter Tye living at 38 Mountain, Queensbury and it is to be presumed that this is the same person named above. Military records available for Leonard show that he enlisted in Bradford.
Leonard is buried at PREMONT BRITISH CEMETERY (I. A. 18.)
